Our capacity crowd heard from speakers with a variety of water-related backgrounds from around the world and worked on strategies and opportunities for Milwaukee's water future.  A full account is below.

The Milwaukee 7 Water Council's Water Summit III: "Understanding the True Costs and Opportunities of Water" took place in the beautiful Pilot House at Discovery World on July 20th, bringing together over 200 people from across the region, nation and world.

Complimenting GMC President Julia Taylor's opening welcome to the audience, Mayor Tom Barrett voiced Milwaukee's support for the work of the Water Council and commented on the city's UN Global Compact City status.

The morning panelists provided views and insight from their perspectives as applied to the Water Summit's theme this year: "Understanding the True Costs and Opportunities of Water." All in all, our morning guests represented viewpoints from the business, environmental, policy, research, technology and investment sides.

UW-Milwaukee Chancellor Carlos Santiago discussed the School of Freshwater Sciences just ahead of Governor Doyle's remarks. After lunch Water Council co-chair Rich Meeusen introduced keynote speaker Assaf Barnea, CEO of Kinrot Ventures, an Israel-based technological incubator dedicated to water technologies. Mr. Barnea discussed his company's involvement in water issues and investments from a worldwide perspective and shared his views on what Milwaukee and our World Water Hub.

Roundtable discussion at the Water SummitThe afternoon breakout session featured roundtable discussions covering water topics from 12 different angles. In that spirit, here are the people below from Table 12. They discussed water as it pertains to Manufacturing & Business.
